New Straw For The Old Broom
It is the summer of 2019.
We are a couple of years into a strange medical journey. It began with a routine medical procedure that went badly wrong and has ended with my partner newly disabled, without a functioning bladder and with an impressive sideline in spinal damage.
She is not going to get better. We find ways, though, of learning to cope. Having drawn primarily as a means of supporting myself for almost a decade I rediscover the concept of drawing for pleasure. I find small interludes in between hospital visits, operations and meetings with lawyers, the council and all manner of other municipal organisations and nestle down with a pen, pencil or brush.
Included here are thirty of my favourites.
